What is controller report?

For a business, the controller is the person in charge of all financial and cost accounting tasks. In larger corporations, the chief financial officer (CFO) is the direct responsibility of the finance manager; in smaller companies, the financial controller and CFO may be the same person. A controller’s responsibilities include assisting in the development of operational costs, supervising financial reporting, and handling payroll. The controller’s duties may include, but are not limited to, creating and overseeing the company’s annual budget. Monetary data must be gathered, analyzed, and consolidated. The controller’s role may not always include managing the annual budget, but they are still responsible for keeping tabs on any discrepancies, summarizing any emerging trends, and digging into any holes they may find. The controller will notify upper management of any significant spending or budgeting discrepancies.
